A long time ago in a galaxy far far away .......

May the force be with you …. Those have been the trademark for all the six Star Wars movies. It all began when a young George Lucas set out to make a movie that would earn him money. Upon completion of the movie (1977 Star wars Episode V, A New Hope) he had called in all the big companies of that time and made them watch it. At the end of the screening only one company took the risk of releasing the movie and that was 20h Century Fox when told the movie will not be a success. Lucas said once in an interview (not exactly his words but) I knew people would want to watch a movie with a title that suggests the movie is about outer space. Well what o you know it worked for him.

The first three parts of the saga deals with the character Anakin Skywalker. A little kid in the first part who shows qualities and traits of Jedi’s that leads him to the Jedi temple. He is trained by Obi Wan Kenobi (between episode 1 and 2) and later grows (much faster then Padme) and they fall in love and have kids. Twins actually. Anakin turns to the dark side before he turns to the twins are born. But he knew his wife was pregnant. In a dual between Obi Wan and Anakin, Obi Wan cuts his body in half and is left to die. Darth Sidious come along and saves Anakin and give him a life support suit (that’s the reason he breaths like a blow pipe).

The last three parts deals with Darth Vader’s (aka Anakin Skywalker) son (Luke Skywalker) all grownup and becomes a Jedi. His training is started by Obi Wan and then Yoda continues his training in the caves. Later his focus is shattered when he finds out that Lord Vader is his father. At last in the 6th part Luke becomes a Jedi master and he sets out to fight the dark lord (his father). In the end just as it always happens the good defeats the evil and saves the world from destruction.

Now did u know that that George Lucas has made cartoons and TV movies to link up stories between movies. Take for example the clone wars is a cartoon series that came out to link up the story between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. This series is supposed to show how Anakin had grown up and how he got his recognition (General Grievous in the opening sequence tells him “I was expecting someone with your reputation to be a little … older”) in the world of the dark and lighter side. At first George Lucas had planned to make a nine part series of Star Wars but later decided against it saying “I don’t want to be making Star Wars all my life”

The later parts were supposed to consist of story after the events of The Return of the Jedi. Luke has mastered the Jedi traits like yoda and is running a Jedi temple. Leia has twins with Han Solo and she has become a prominent name in the politics in the galactical senate. The story was supposed to be where an old Sith returns and draws a kid from the Jedi temple to the dark side and nearly kills Luke.

The whole idea of Star Wars as I see it was a vision of George Lucas to see a future where humans have advanced so much that every thing has changed. Humans and aliens leave in peace. The main idea was the fight between good and evil. It tried to show us that best friends Obi Wan and Anakin fought till only one was alive and then father and son fought leaving only one standing also. Many people have visions of the future and all come up with a different perspective of it. Below are some links that I found useful to keep me up to date with the Star Wars universe. I hope u enjoyed this first blog now get lost and write a comment.

Silent. Invisible. Invincible. The Ultimate Hunter

No I m not talking about the Hunter from Unreal Tournament, this is the creature that was first seen in the movie Predator (1987). The movie started Arnold Schwarzenegger as Major Alan Dutch Schaefer and the late Kevin Peter Hall as the (Yatuja) Predator. Predator is a character that has the ability to bend light making him near invisible and with an array of weapons at his disposal (plasma gun on the shoulder) makes him nearly invincible.

But "If it bleeds, we can kill it,". Imaging coming face to face with a creature like this who opens his mouth in four different directions. Whoa! This character was portrayed perfectly by the late actor Kevin Peter Hall. A less known fact about the actor is that he was actually blind.

An excerpt from a book published 1993:

Arnold confesses to have had some initial anxiety when first confronted with the creature:

-There was plenty of fear there, believe me. Working with something like this was wild in reality because he[monster Kevin Peter Hall, who stands a foot taller than Schwarzenegger] couldn’t really see. Not only in the movie does he have heat seeking eyes, but in reality the sonuvabitch couldn’t see. So when he’s supposed to slap me around and stay far from my face, all of a sudden WHAP! There is his hand with claws on it! (Flynn, John L. The Films of Arnold Schwarzenegger, p116)

The second part of the movie that came out in 1990 also had the same guy playing the Predator. For the menacing one and the elderly one (in the end). Towards the end of the movie there is a xenomorph (Alien) skull seen in the spacecraft. Now what does that show? Simple this is where the story idea for AVP came right? Wrong! The cross over was done a year before the movie was release through a comic titles Alien Vs Predator. Imagine after more then 14 years someone had the guts to pull of a movie like AVP. Also this story is very different from the comics.

Story on the sequel for AVP:
Alien vs. Predator: Survival of the Fittest is the upcoming sequel to 2004's Alien vs. Predator film. Filming began on September 25, 2006 in Vancouver. Tom Woodruff Jr and Alec Gillis from Amalgamated Dynamics will be handling the special effects for the film as they did for the previous installment and Daniel Pearl has signed on as director of photography. Shane Salerno wrote the script. Reiko Aylesworth and Steven Pasquale will play leading roles in the film. ComingSoon.Net has reported a release date of December 21, 2007, however, according to other Internet reports, the film will debut in Australia on September 27, 2007 casting doubt on the North American date. The film is expected to be rated R, as opposed to the PG-13 rating of the original.

Visual effects artists and commercial and music video directors the Brothers Strause have been announced as the directors of "AvP2". A June 1, 2006 news entry on their website merely says "Something big is brewing" and a June 7, 2006 news entry says "AVP2 ! The Bros. have signed on to direct their first feature."

After looking a the rating it feels that the movie should be a little more bloody don’t you think. I had a feeling that held back on the fight scenes. One of the reasons (I feel) was that the Yatuja had been too bulky to make any moves. The end scene with the Yatuja jumping in the air to stab the mother Alien was all CGI. What other choice do they have when the suites are so bloody BIG. Any ways lefts hope APV 2 is good. Cant wait to see how much they fucked it up. Until then see ya.
